The Rest of the Story (If ya haven't read the previous post, do that before you read this, makes more sense.)

Ok, so I think I left ya all hangin' when that little bird jumped up on the edge and I quickly turned the camera off. Dig he jump you all thought, yes he did! Of course I sprang into action but there was too little time to put on my cub scout shirt ( a heroic story that I will share with you later). The little quail ran down the side of the house and thanks to my stealth moves and cat like reflexes that Kim eludes to in her comment, I cut him off. He ran back behind the pot. This is when I strategically stationed my two snipers, Crue and Addi. They acted fast, squealing with delight at almost touching the baby as it ran back and forth between them, the corner of the house and me. Fortunately this little birds 3 day old legs were no match for me! I finally caught him (or her, didn't check). After half smooshing him on the ground with my hand, I scooped him up and gently put him back into the pot. If you thought that was exciting, you're right but it doesn't end there. The day before we had the jumper, the momma quail sat by the bottom of the pot calling to her babies while the daddy paced back and forth on the edge of the patio. I think, since I've watched the Pet Psychic before and I can now communicate with animals, that the momma was trying to get her babies to jump out! They were running all around the pot and except for our little jumper they couldn't get out! They mom and dad then gave up hope and I hadn't seen them back for about a day and a half. I'm getting nervous by now and thinking maybe I should try to regurgitate something for them to eat! HE HE It was a fleeting thought but I did decide that if they were going to die, it wasn't going to be in my pot! I built them some custom stairs ( an overturned candle and pencil holder) so they could climb out and after that it's purely natural selection! I left for the dentist and my mother-in-law was at the house with Addi and she texted me that the mom and dad were back! Tear! In conclusion, when I arrived home all the baby birds were gone except one! I'm sure he was our little jumper and his mom had rejected him because of my sweet aroma that accompanied him! The urge to take care of him was still there but I thought "don't be a total geek, I run over (accidentally of course) these guys all the time" so after about 2 minutes of trying to catch him, he had obviously been in training and he used the plants branches as obstacles that hindered my sleek movement, I caught him and released him in to the wild, well just on my porch and then he ran off! I'm sure he has reunited with his family by now....or been eaten by an owl! So there's the rest of the story!

Thank you to everyone for all your sympathy as we battled the flu! Addi was better by the next morning and of course Crue got it that afternoon. He threw up every 20 mins. for the next 6 hours. I manned the throw up bowl and after his first couple I was able to spot the signs of it coming! He was feeling a little better by the next morning. That's when I got it but thankfully I just felt nauseated. Josh came down with it that afternoon as did grandpa! It has worked its way through our family and the only signs left are in Addi's diaper about 4 times a day! She hasn't regulated quiet yet. Ok enough with talks of puke and poop, a couple weeks a go a momma quail laid eleven eggs in my potted Bird of Paradise plant which is on our front porch. They were too cute! I was nervous cause even though the momma bird kept sitting on them it had been 3 weeks and I wasn't sure what the gestation period was for quail eggs. Well 2 days ago Crue came running into my room and told me that there was a baby that had hatched. I looked and there it was and shortly after came the other 10. They are so cute!

POOR ADDI!

Why does my couch look like it's been burglarized? Let me answer that question with a question. Where hasn't Addi puked today? That's right, little bit here, little bit there, every things fine then BOOM, she explodes. Poor Addi! Yesterday morning she woke up with hives all over her arms, legs and face. I knew she hadn't eaten anything new and she's never had hives before, so I gave her some Benadryl and hoped I never saw them again. We went to the pool, then swim lessons, came home and she took a nap. When she woke up, there they were again! This time they were huge! Here whole right cheek was one enormous hive. Her doctor was already closed for the day so I gave her more Benadryl and hoped they wouldn't come back. In the mean time she was acting perfectly normal. High energy level, hives didn't itch or hurt, she just had hives. SO this morning I go and get her out of her crib and there they were again. I laid her on her bed and was changing her diaper when I look up at her face and she can't breathe and immediately I think she's going into anaphalactic shock! (Don't know how to spell it and not sure if that's how you even pronounce it). I yell at Crue to get me the phone and I roll Addi on her side and within a few seconds she starts throwing up stomach bilge. This went on for about a full minute. Ya know when kids are throwing up and they can't breathe cause the throw up is blocking everything? Well that's how it was this morning. Needless to say I was really nervous! Well I got her into the Dr. and he's not sure what's wrong. No strep, no new foods, she doesn't have allergies but we opted out of the blood tests. He said that it may be viral and I think that's what it is. She has puked 9 times in all so far but she's doing better now cause she's napping. My good friend Eden was able to pick Crue up from his little summer camp at Ms. Neva's and I'm so thankful to her for her help! I'll keep ya'll updated on her condition! If any of you have had similar bouts with hives or puke and have tips on how to combat them, let me know!
